Why AuditTube

Everything YouTube Studio hides from the outside world

YouTube Studio only shows data to the channel owner. Every other audit tool gives you 4–5 vanity numbers. AuditTube runs 30+ signals in seconds — content patterns, SEO gaps, posting habits, engagement health, growth trajectory — and then an AI reads all of it and writes your personal action plan.

🔬
Deep, not wide
Most tools show subscriber count and call it an audit. We analyse title psychology, upload consistency, hour-of-day patterns, hidden underperforming videos, viral coefficients — metrics that actually explain growth.
AI that reads the data
After fetching all 30+ data points, Claude AI reads the entire picture and writes 5 specific, numbered recommendations tailored to your channel — not copy-paste advice, but things like "your Thursdays get 40% more traction, shift your schedule."
💎
Hidden gems finder
We identify videos that got high engagement but low distribution — your best content that the algorithm underserved. Most creators never know these exist. Now you can repromote them with a better thumbnail or title.
📊
Benchmark vs niche
Raw numbers mean nothing without context. We compare your engagement rate, upload frequency, thumbnail quality, and SEO against estimated niche averages so you know where you're leading and where you're falling behind.
Posting time science
We analyse every video's publish timestamp and map which days and hours your top videos went up. This isn't generic "post on Tuesdays" advice — it's reverse-engineered from your own channel's history.
📄
PDF you can share
Every audit exports to a multi-page PDF with all charts, scores, AI recommendations, and top video analysis. Send it to your editor, manager, brand sponsor, or keep it as a monthly benchmark to track improvement.
How to read your report

What each section actually means for your growth

The report is designed to be read top to bottom — each section tells a different part of your channel's story. Here's exactly what to look for and what to do with it.

01
Channel Score (top right)
A single number from 0–99 that weights 7 factors: subscriber scale, engagement quality, consistency, SEO, thumbnails, growth momentum, and content diversity. Under 50 = fundamentals broken. 50–70 = solid but one or two things holding you back. 70+ = strong channel with room to optimise. Use this as your monthly benchmark — run the audit again in 30 days and watch it move.
02
Engagement Rate
This is likes + comments divided by views, expressed as a percentage. Under 2% is concerning — it means people are watching but not connecting. 2–4% is healthy. Above 5% is excellent and usually means strong community. If your engagement is low, the fix is almost always the ending of your videos — ask a direct question, create controversy, or add a CTA in the last 30 seconds.
03
Engagement Trend (sparkline)
This compares your most recent 10 videos vs the 10 before that. A declining trend is the most important warning sign on the whole report — it means the algorithm is pulling back. If you see red here, look at what changed: did your upload frequency drop? Did you change your format? Did your thumbnails get lazier? Fix the root cause before chasing views.
04
Content DNA — Shorts vs Long-form
The donut shows your format split. Neither is right or wrong — but mixing both strategically is powerful: Shorts bring new subscribers, Long-form builds watch time and revenue. If you're 100% one format, you're leaving growth on the table. Also check whether your Shorts or Long-form gets better engagement — double down on whichever is winning.
05
Title Intelligence
Titles are your #1 click-through lever. Optimal length is 45–70 characters. Titles with numbers (e.g. "7 mistakes", "I spent ₹50,000") consistently outperform by 20–30%. Brackets add context [2024], (Full Guide), (ft. Expert) and improve CTR. If your number-usage is below 30%, start weaving specific numbers into every title — it immediately signals specificity to the viewer.
06
Posting Heatmap
The day and hour bars show when your existing top videos were published. This is your personal optimal window — not YouTube's generic advice. The algorithm rewards channels that post consistently at the same time because it trains subscriber notification behaviour. Pick your top day + hour and stick to it for 90 days. Consistency matters more than "the perfect time."
07
Consistency Score
Measures how regular your upload gaps are. A channel that posts every 7 days scores higher than one that posts 5 videos in a week and then disappears for a month. The YouTube algorithm treats consistency as a trust signal. If your score is below 50, set a sustainable cadence — even 1 video per week beats bursty posting. Use this score as your content discipline metric.
08
Hidden Gems
These are videos with above-average engagement but below-average views — your best content that the algorithm didn't push. This happens when a video launches without momentum (low CTR in the first 24 hours). The fix: re-upload with a new thumbnail, change the title, add it to a playlist, and share it in a community post. These are your easiest wins.
09
AI Recommendations
The AI reads every metric above and generates 5 actions specific to your channel's actual data — not generic YouTube advice. Start with recommendation #1 and implement it fully before moving to #2. Most creators try to fix everything at once and fix nothing. One change per month, measured against your next audit, is the fastest path to growth.
Built for every creator

What AuditTube surfaces depends on who you are

The same 30+ metrics hit differently depending on your niche. Here's what matters most for each creator type — and what to look for in your report.

🎮
Gamers & Streamers
Shorts vs VODsClip viralityUpload cadence
Gaming channels live and die by consistency and clip quality. Check your Shorts ratio — viral clips under 60s are your top-of-funnel. Check your viral coefficient to see how many videos have broken out. If consistency score is low, your stream highlight pipeline is probably irregular — systematise it. Also check comment rate: gaming has one of the highest community engagement benchmarks — if yours is low, you're not triggering discussion.
Key metric: Viral coefficient + Comment rate
📚
Educators & Tutors
Watch time depthSEOPlaylist structure
Education channels grow through search, not browse. Your SEO score is the most important number in your report — channel keywords, avg tags per video, description length. If your playlist count is low, you're losing the watch-time chains that YouTube rewards. Check avg video description length — educational channels should be above 500 chars with timestamps and resource links. Your hidden gems are almost always your best tutorial videos that were poorly titled.
Key metric: SEO score + Playlist count
😂
Comedy & Entertainment
Engagement trendViralityTitle CTR signals
Comedy channels are feast-or-famine — one viral video changes everything. Watch your engagement trend sparkline obsessively. Comedy fatigue is real: if recent videos are trending down, you've hit a format ceiling and need to experiment. Check titles with numbers and brackets — comedy titles that set up a clear premise ("I tried X for 30 days") outperform vague ones. High comment rate is your health indicator — if people aren't quoting your jokes in comments, the jokes aren't landing.
Key metric: Engagement trend + Like rate
💪
Fitness & Lifestyle
ConsistencyLong-form depthThumbnail quality
Fitness channels depend on trust built over time — which means consistency score is your #1 metric. Viewers follow a fitness creator like a coach; irregular uploads destroy that relationship. Check your custom thumbnail rate — fitness thumbnails are a visual promise (before/after, transformation cues) and generic auto-thumbs kill CTR. Long-form engagement should be higher than Shorts for fitness — if it's reversed, you're not converting Short viewers into loyal followers.
Key metric: Consistency score + Thumbnail rate
💻
Tech & Reviews
Upload timingTitle precisionSEO depth
Tech channels have a narrow publishing window — a review posted 2 weeks after a product launch gets a fraction of the traffic. Your posting heatmap tells you if you're consistently hitting that window or missing it. Title intelligence matters hugely here — "iPhone 16 Review" vs "iPhone 16 Review: 3 Things Nobody Told You" is a 3x CTR difference. Check your bracket usage — [Hands-on], [Full Review], (Worth It?) are proven CTR boosters for tech.
Key metric: Title intelligence + Posting time
🍳
Food & Cooking
Shorts for discoveryEngagement depthHidden gems
Food is one of YouTube's most competitive niches — and the one where Shorts have the highest conversion to long-form subscribers. If your Shorts ratio is under 20%, you're invisible on the Shorts shelf where most new food viewers are discovered. Check your hidden gems — older recipe videos often have high engagement and rank in search but never got promoted. A new thumbnail and a community post can revive them. Comment rate is your community health signal — recipe questions in comments = audience trust.
Key metric: Shorts ratio + Hidden gems
💰
Finance & Business
Views per subSEO depthLong-form eng
Finance channels monetise through trust — ad CPM is high but so is competition. Views per subscriber is your most revealing metric: finance audiences are loyal but need to be reminded to watch. Low views-per-sub means your notifications aren't being clicked — check your title clarity. SEO score is critical — "best index funds India 2024" has search intent attached; your tags and descriptions should reflect this. Long-form engagement should be strong; if it's weak, your videos are too long for the value delivered.
Key metric: Views per sub + SEO score
🎨
Art, Music & Creatives
Community engFormat diversityConsistency
Creative channels have the highest comment quality but often the lowest upload frequency. Your comment rate is more important than like rate — creative work triggers emotional responses, and comments signal deep connection. Check content diversity — mixing process videos (Shorts), tutorials (Long-form), and behind-the-scenes creates multiple discovery paths. If consistency score is under 40, consider batching — record 4 videos in one session and schedule them weekly. Creative burnout is the #1 killer of creative channels.
Key metric: Comment rate + Consistency score
Your 30-day growth system

How to turn your audit into actual channel growth

Getting the report is step one. Most creators read it, feel motivated for 20 minutes, and do nothing. Here's a system to make the audit work for you over 30 days.

Day 1
Read the AI recommendations first
Skip straight to the AI Coach section. It's read everything else and distilled it. Pick the single highest-priority recommendation and write it on a sticky note. That's your month's focus. Nothing else matters until that's done.
Day 2
Fix your hidden gems
Go to the Hidden Gems section. For each gem, redesign the thumbnail in Canva, rewrite the title with a number or bracket, and post a Community update pointing to it. These videos already have an audience — you're just reconnecting the algorithm to them.
Day 3–7
Fix your posting schedule
Look at your posting heatmap. Pick the top day and hour and lock it in your calendar for the next 4 weeks. Schedule your next 4 uploads at that exact time. Consistency score improvement is visible within one month and it's the fastest way to improve your channel score.
Week 2
Rewrite your next 4 titles
Using your Title Intelligence data, look at your upcoming video ideas. If your number usage is low, add a specific number. If bracket usage is low, add a context bracket. A/B test two thumbnail variants if possible. Track CTR in YouTube Studio after 48 hours.
Week 3
Fix your SEO foundations
If your SEO score is low: add channel keywords in YouTube Studio settings, write a full channel description with your main topics, update video descriptions on your top 10 videos to be at least 300 words with timestamps. These changes compound over months through search.
Day 30
Run the audit again
Come back and audit the same channel after 30 days. Compare the channel score, engagement trend, consistency score, and views per subscriber. If you followed the plan, you should see movement in at least 2–3 metrics. Use the new AI recommendations to set your next month's focus.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I audit someone else's channel, not just mine?
Yes — AuditTube works on any public YouTube channel. Paste any URL or @handle. Creators use this to audit competitors, agency owners use it for client pitches, and managers use it to benchmark their talent roster. All data pulled is publicly available via the YouTube Data API.
How is this different from YouTube Studio analytics?
YouTube Studio is for channel owners only and shows raw data without interpretation. AuditTube works on any channel from the outside, adds a scoring layer, identifies hidden gems and growth signals, benchmarks against niche averages, and generates an AI action plan — none of which Studio does.
How accurate is the engagement rate and scoring?
Engagement rate is calculated from real YouTube API data (actual likes and comments divided by actual views). The channel score is a weighted model across 7 factors. Benchmark comparisons are estimated averages — treat them as directional, not exact. The AI recommendations are generated fresh for each audit based on the real data.
Why does the audit take a few seconds?
We make 4–5 separate API calls to YouTube to fetch channel stats, top videos, recent videos, video details, and playlists. Then we run all the analysis and send the full data to Claude AI for personalised recommendations. The progress bar shows you exactly where we are.
Can I use this for a client report?
Absolutely. The PDF export is designed to be shareable — it includes channel name, date, all metrics, AI recommendations, and top video analysis in a clean multi-page format. Agencies and freelance consultants use it as a deliverable in YouTube strategy packages.
How often should I run an audit?
Once a month is ideal. Run the audit, implement the top 1–2 recommendations, then re-audit after 30 days to measure movement. The channel score and engagement trend are the two best month-over-month indicators. Some creators audit weekly to track a specific campaign or format experiment.
